Living at 1400m has its advantages and challenges. One of the advantages is that we get to enjoy mostly dry cool summers opposed to the hot and humid cities in most other parts of Japan. The challenge for us is making sure we prepare enough firewood for the winter months.
Our family does not use any electric or kerosene heaters, we only use a wood-burning stove for heat. And we need to heat our house from October to April and also during the rainy season in June and July. So we need fule about half the year and fortunately for us, there is an abundance of fuel just waiting to be collected.
