Norikura Kogen

It’s almost new year’s eve and the snow is falling again here in Norikura Kogen. I took the kids to their ski club and decided to take a few clips of the beautiful snow coming down.

Snowfall has been a bit on the delinquent side this winter here in the village. There has been snow on Mount Norikura since the end of October but it’s been a long wait since then.

Although the ski resort is open we are yet to see decent snow in the village this year. As of today the road to Ichinose Meadow which on a typical year is only accessible by foot after mid-November was clear and dry.

-9˚ Mornings makes for some pretty frost on the windows this morning. Up in Suzuran near the Visitors Center there is still a bit of snow on the ground from last week.

Living at 1400m has its advantages and challenges.

Got a few nice panoramas this morning from around Norikura Base. The blue skies and golden larch trees look nice together.

This morning we woke to a think blanket of frost on the ground. We are expecting our first snow in the village this week, time to put on the winter tires.

This evening’s pre-sunset was pretty awesome.I don’t think I’ve seen this type is texture in the clouds before.

I decided to take the kids out for a little walk/bike this morning while mommy had a meeting with a friend. We got some fresh snow on Mount Norikura last night and it made for some nice contrast.
